FIFA Grants DRC FA 100,000 USD

Kinshasa, DR Congo (PANA) - The world soccer governing body, FIFA, has granted the
Congolese Football Association (FECOFA) over 100,000 US dollars to enable the national
football team prepare for the qualifying rounds of the 2002 World Cup to be co-hosted by
Japan and South Korea.
According to a source close to FECOFA, the grant will cover the cost of accommodation for
the players as well as pay for a return trip to Djibouti, where they will play the first
leg of the first round match next weekend.
FECOFA had requested the Kinshasa government to release funds to meet the players' bonuses
as well as honorariums for the technical staff made up of the coaches, doctor and
physiotherapist.
